Treating Parkinson's disease with the Stimpod

Hi

 

Can the Stimpod assist someone with Parkinson’s? If so what works the best?

Hi Cathy!

For Parkinson’s they stimulate (via implanted electrodes) the subthalamic nucleus, which is a structure deep inside the brain. I don’t know if someone has had a patient that experienced some symptom relief by stimulating the Vagus nerve, perhaps? There might be a beneficial effect through VNS..

According to the link above it may help with gait and reaction times, but not necessarily tremor…
